Penryn is an ancient market town harking back to the 13th Century. It’s seen a great deal of history and today boasts a charming atmosphere and host of up and coming shops, galleries and eateries. Thanks to it’s proximity to the Penryn Campus of Falmouth University, Penryn is also home to a vibrant student population.

Penryn’s ancient history makes for fascinating exploring. In more recent times, Falmouth University on the doorstep has led to an evolving and growing arts scene in the town.


Getting Around

Train | We are a 15 minute (quite hilly!) walk from the train station. This is the Maritime Line which runs between Falmouth and Truro. We can usually offer a pick-up service from the station.

Bus | 50 metres to the no. 69 route Falmouth to Mylor and Flushing

Park & Ride / Float | 2 km to Ponsharden for ferries or buses into Falmouth

Walks | local walks from the property (maps and guidance on request!)

  • The Dog House to Flushing via St. Gluvias Church - 5 kilometres beside the river (can be muddy)

  • The Dog House to Mylor via Enys - 5 kilometres on quiet roads (or farm rights of way for the adventurous)

  • The Dog House to Perranarworthal - 5 kilometres on quiet roads

  • The Dog House to Bohelland Holy Well - 1/2 kilometre mystery walk!
